Imitation of old work and painting is not counterfeiting or forgery. The main difference is in the requirements for furniture surface substrate treatment and coating compared to the production of ordinary products. At present, furniture production enterprises will implement antique old techniques and coatings as surface coating processes. Compared with ordinary painting, the antique craftsmanship on the surface of furniture awakens beautiful memories and releases a longing for nature and a return to nature.
A few years ago, it was popular to intentionally wear and tear out jeans. Nowadays, furniture and decoration also have a trend of “making old”. Old furniture has a sense of age and vicissitudes, which is in line with the trend and is more sought after by white-collar and middle-class consumers. Although the surface is outdated, the price is not cheap because the final layer is all handmade, and labor is not cheap.

The entire process of manufacturing an antique style furniture.
1. Burning
Burning is to make the wood grain more prominent, and the wood grain will only be exposed during polishing, giving a feeling of “breaking”. Burning has benefits, but it also has drawbacks. Wood can crack, and people who make it old generally do not mind cracking. Cracking can make furniture more vibrant.
2. Grinding
After burning, it turned black and began polishing. After polishing, a layer of ash on the surface fell off, and the wood grain was very obvious and beautiful.
Tip: If you don’t want to make a light color, just brush the varnish now.

3. Plastering
Next is plastering. As mentioned earlier, cracks will appear after burning, and this requires putty powder to smooth it out.
4. Color matching
After the excess putty and powder have fallen off, the primer needs to be applied. The desk is placed in the children’s room, and a light color is considered. The color is adjusted on-site by Chu Feng. First, dilute and mix with white polyester paint and diluent.
5. Coloring
Ready to pour the spray gun and prepare for coloring. It takes some time for the paint to dry, and the addition of curing agent to the polyester paint, coupled with the bright sunshine, did not keep me waiting for long.
6. Grinding flat
After drying, start grinding. Wet the tabletop with a cloth and grind it with water. This will make the surface very smooth, and after grinding, a blue and yellow green color will appear, much like a set color.
7. Topcoat
After grinding, apply a clear coat of paint, and a piece of antique furniture paint is completed.

Antique is a keyword in current furniture design, and modern retro mainly refers to adding elements that reflect the old style when designing and making furniture, which is essentially antique.
In modern society, people not only enjoy the convenience and fashion brought by high-tech modern furniture, but also miss the past culture and customs. The use of antique furniture carries historical information, cultural information, and special cultural connotations, which has led to the rise of antique furniture.
Why is the price of second-hand furniture on the high side?
Old furniture is generally a mid to high-end furniture product, and its price is higher than that of ordinary furniture products with a shiny appearance, mainly because the materials and workmanship costs of old furniture are higher.
1.Material prices continue to rise
Most of the used furniture in the market is solid wood furniture, and in recent years, natural wood has been decreasing year by year. The scarcity of wood resources has prompted the country to successively introduce policies to protect forestry resources, which has led to the price of solid wood raw materials increasing year by year, and the cost of used furniture has also been continuously increasing.
2.Making old processes takes time and effort
In the process of making old furniture, there are many processes that require manual craftsmanship, especially in the process of making old furniture. Most of them are handmade. On the one hand, this places higher demands on operators, and experienced craftsmen naturally have higher labor costs; On the other hand, manual polishing and aging, as well as long production cycles and time-consuming labor, are all costs for furniture factories.
3.Design requires innovation
Making old furniture is not just a simple imitation of ancient furniture, but a way for designers to create new things and let modern furniture express a sense of history from the bones. A design that is both creative and popular with consumers is not easy to come by, and designers need to constantly try. There will also be hidden cost losses in the process of trial and error.
